Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki, the Bishop of Arua Diocese on Saturday January 15th 2022 urged the Catholics at Lejome Chapel in Arua City to oftenly encounter, listen and discern with fellow human beings, the Bishop was speaking in a holy mass at the Chapel during which 273 young boys and girls were confirmed into the Catholic faith and two couples celebrated their holy Matrimony witnessed by tht Bishiop.
In his Homily, the Bishop dwelt on how synodality of thThis follows the 2021 call by the Holy Father, Pope Francis who formally launched a two-year global consultation process leading to the 2023 synod on synodality during a eucharistic Celebration at St. Peter’s Basilica, with a call to “look others in the eye and listen to what they have to say.” The Pope said that Catholics taking part in the synodal path should strive to “become experts in the art of encounter.
Bishop Sabino Ocan Odoki urged the congregation to encounter and never shy away from fellow human beings. He said, as a Christian, one must never have prejudice towards another person. "We should encounter people and get to know each other, the Holy Father is telling us to encounter fellow human beings, so never shy away, sometimes you may be disappointed as the other person may not be interested but at least you will have expressed interest." Said Bishop Sabino.
He urged the faithfuls of Lejome Chapel to share their experiences and listen to each other and allow others to speak "The Pope says that if we want to be a synodal church, we must listen to each other. We have to know the feelings of each other and this must be done in a good way and not in an arrogant or abusive way. Some people have some good reasons but they don't know how to say it , they end up insulting others , that is not the good way of sharing, we have to share in humility, knowing that the other person is important too." Said the Bishop.
