Dear Friends,
Clergy, Religious and Lay Faithful,
I welcome you all to the 15th Anniversary of my Episcopal Ordination. Out of God’s love, I have been called to serve the Lord as a Bishop, a Shepherd and Minister of God and the Church. By the grace of God I have been in this noble ministry for the last 15 years. May the name of the Lord be praised forevermore.
I am filled with gratitude to all those who have helped me in my life and ministry as a Bishop. In a special way, I thank the Clergy of Gulu Archdiocese who worked in collaboration with us when I was Auxiliary Bishop in Gulu. I equally give gratitude to the Clergy of Arua Diocese my immediate collaborators in my ministry as Bishop Ordinary of Arua. I also give special thanks to the Religious men and women who have been supporting me with their prayers. I am most grateful to the Lay Faithful who have been very resourceful to my work, providing me the means necessary for my apostolate. Thanks for all your prayers. God bless you in return.
My gratitude to my family members and friends for their care and support. Thank you for making our home a place of prayer. Without your help, moral and material support this gathering for prayers that we do at home twice every year would not be possible. Thank you for your contributions and that of your friends towards this yearly celebration of the Eucharist at home. God bless you too.
My episcopal motto, ROOTED IN CHRIST’S LOVE (Ephesians 3:17-19) has always been my driving force in the 15 years of my pastoral ministry as a Bishop. This motto has helped me to find strength in God. Being rooted in Christ’s love helped me to work hard in the pastoral field. By being rooted in Christ’s love God helped me to endure. Every moment of my life I look to Jesus Christ the root, source and light of my ministry to guide and lead me. In Faith, Hope and Love, I offer myself freely to serve God’s people without reservation. I find joy in doing so. I would like to forgive and also be forgiven by some people who might have been hurt in my effort to serve God and God’s People. Like St. Paul in his letter to the Ephesians, I pray that we are all rooted and grounded in Christ’s Love.
As I celebrate with joy my 15th Anniversary of Episcopal Service, I call upon the Lord to bless you all who have contributed to this day and to all of you who have joined me in the celebration in person and in spirit. May the Lord reward you for your care, love and support of the Church and most needy people. When the time comes, may you have a safe journey back to your respective places.
I wish you all a very wonderful Christmas Season and a Blessed New Year 2022.
Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki
Bishop of Arua
