The community of Lugbari Catholic Parish on 30th April 2021 gathered for Holy Mass to mark the first anniversary of being elevated to the status of a Parish. After 12 year as a Sub-Parish, Lugbari was elevated to a Parish status by Bishop Sabino Ocan Odoki on 30th April, 2020. In the decree that the Bishop gave out on the day, he dedicated Lugbari Parish to Our Lady Mother of Africa. Due to the countrywide lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, the Christians could not celebrate the elevation of Parish solemnly.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Honorable Minister Mario Kania Obiga, State Minister for Internal Affairs in the Ugandan Cabinet and representative of Terego County East, Arua District, in the 10th Parliament of Uganda, among other dignitaries. Honorable Minister Mario Obiga together with his family contributed up to 8 million Ugandan shillings in a fundraise for the Parish.
