During Eucharistic celebration, the Bishop of Arua Diocese, Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki blessed the P.7 Candidates ahead of the 2022 Primary Leaving Examinations
that will take place in mid-November. The occasion took place at Christ the King Church in Arua City.
The Bishop challenged the candidates to pursue their education up to a level that they are prepared for life. The celebration was attended by the entire school:
pupils, parents, staff, including political leaders and local leaders of Arua City.
48 and 47 pupils of Christ the King Nursery and Primary School in Arua City received First Holy Communion and Holy Sacrament of Confirmation respectively.
In his homily, the Bishop congratulated Christ the King Nursery and Primary School for initiating the idea of having their pupils being initiated into the christian faith while they are still at school. He noted that this was the first time a gathering of a kind has happened in the school and urged the school to continue with the practice. He also said, as a father of the diocese, the celebration has given an opportunity to connect with the children. "Congratulations for this new initiative. This also gives the bishop an opportunity to connect with you. As a father in the diocese, there has to be a good relationship between the father and the children, the children and their mother and the mother with children. So, this is the joy I feel today to be connected with the children." The Bishop also thanked the administration and the teachers of the school for helping the children in their education. "I want to thank the teachers who are helping you and in a special way the Head Teacher, Mr. Charles Adrapi, and the Deputy Head Teacher, Madam Dorothy, for guiding these pupils to be happy and confident children with a bright feature. Keep up these qualities. And congratulations to all those who have been helping you, the Parish Priests, Rev. Fr. Dr. Yobuta Pius, his curate and chaplain, Rev.Fr.Guma Godfrey, parents and your sponsors, the catechist and all those who have helped you."
The Bishop also urged the parents to take up the responsibility of guiding the children very seriously. He congratulated the Primary Seven candidates for making it to the candidate class, "It is a blessing to reach primary seven. I go to many schools and many of the pupils do not reach Primary seven. Especially girls, so, you girls who have reached primary seven, thank you very much. Pursue your education as far as possible. Sometimes, they say, the sky's the limit. My saying to you is that you go beyond the sky. Anything that diverts your mind from education, don't accept it. Many parents force their children into early marriage, this is very unfortunate. Let the children go to school and learn and be better persons in life. And i know more boys pursue education than the girls here in Arua , so I want to thank the boys also, stay in school , do not become a young father, pursue your education up to a level that you are prepared for life."
