Welcome Message from the Diocesan Pastoral Counsellor, Arua.

Welcome Remarks by Sr. Leonora Director, Arua Diocese Counselling Department
Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ.
On behalf of the Catholic Counselling Services of Arua Diocese, I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to each of you. We gather today in a spirit of unity, faith, and compassion, committed to serving the emotional, spiritual, and psychological needs of our people.

The Arua Diocese Counselling Department was established through the pastoral vision of our Bishop Ordinary, Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki, on 1st September 2017, in response to the growing pastoral needs within our diocese. Since then, under the guidance of the Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator and with a Chaplain and Director appointed by the Bishop, we have continued to deepen our mission of healing and restoration.

Our official launch on 16th May 2019 at Christus Centre marked a new beginning for us, a day graced by the presence of our Bishop, the President of the Uganda Counselling Association, the LC5 Chairperson of Arua District, and many distinguished guests. From that day forward, we have taken up the sacred duty of offering faith-based counselling services to individuals and communities facing the hidden wounds of trauma, displacement, addiction, family breakdown, and loss of hope.

Arua Diocese, deeply rooted in faith and blessed with a resilient people, also carries the burdens of its history, poverty, war, migration, and the erosion of traditional social fabrics. Our counselling services aim to respond to these realities with Christian love, psychological care, and pastoral presence. We strive to be a listening Church a healing Church a compassionate Church.

Through training of clergy, religious, and lay counselors, as well as outreach to parishes, refugee camps, and remote communities, we aim to offer safe spaces where people can rediscover dignity, peace, and the presence of God in their suffering.

Let this department be a reflection of Christ the Good Shepherd, who leaves the ninety-nine to seek out the one who is lost, hurting, or broken. May every person who walks through our doors encounter not only professional support but also the loving mercy of God.

Together, guided by the Holy Spirit, let us build a stronger, more caring, and spiritually renewed diocese.

Welcome once again, and may God bless you all.
