Arua Diocese Welcomes 18 New Clergy

On 26th July 2025, the Catholic Diocese of Arua celebrated the ordination of 10
deacons to the priesthood and 8 seminarians to the diaconate at the Sacred Heart
of Jesus Cathedral, Ediofe. The ceremony, led by Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki, was
attended by Christians, clergy, dignitaries, and guests from across Uganda and abroad.
In his homily, Bishop Sabino described ordination as a gift from God and a sacred
commitment, urging the newly ordained to live as humble servants of God and His
people. He stressed prayer, obedience, and unity as central to the priestly
vocation, and encouraged parents to continue supporting vocations in the Church.
"My little advice to you candidates and priests present, we are called to be
servants of God and His people. A priest is a man of prayer, a mediator
between God and His people. You are no longer yourselves but 'another
Christ' so let the people see Christ in you. Parents lets offer our
best to God. We have a parent here with us who offered their only
child to God to be a priest amongst the ordained" Bishop Sabino said.
The bishop also announced new clergy appointments and transfers aimed
at improving pastoral service across the diocese:
