Moyo, Arua Diocese - A large congregation of mourners gathered in deep sorrow and prayer on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Moyo Catholic Parish to bid a solemn farewell to the late Rev. Fr. George Ezatirale, who was called to eternal rest on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 10:15 AM at Nsambya Hospital, Kampala. The Requiem Mass was presided over by Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki, who led the faithful in mourning and thanksgiving for the life and ministry of Fr. George.

In his homily, Bishop Sabino reflected deeply on the mystery of death. He reminded the faithful that though death is painful and often feels like an enemy, it is also a necessary gateway to eternal life. "Death is bitter and inevitable," he said. "Yet we must not fear it, for as Christians, our hope is in Christ's resurrection. Death is merely a door to eternity."

Quoting St. Paul, the bishop pointed out that those who die in Christ will rise with Him: "If we die with Him, we shall also live with Him; if we persevere, He will not disown us." He reassured the mourners of God's faithfulness even in times of sorrow and urged them to take comfort in the promise of resurrection. "God is merciful. No sin is too great for His mercy. Let us see every moment of weakness as a chance for renewal," he encouraged.

He invited all who had strayed from the path of faith to return to Christ, who offers Himself as the Bread of Life for eternal salvation. "Jesus is always calling us back to Himself," he said. Bishop Sabino expressed his deep condolences to all the Christians Fr. George served during his priestly ministry. "As a priest, he must have touched countless lives, celebrating the Holy Mass, blessing marriages, anointing the sick, and proclaiming the Word of God. To all who were ministered to by him, I share in your grief." He acknowledged the pain felt by the brother priests who have lost a dear companion in the Lord's vineyard. "The Church mourns. Fr. George now joins the eternal company of priests. His unique role on earth will be dearly missed. Kindly accept my heartfelt condolences," the bishop said.

He also thanked all those who stood by Fr. George during his final days, offering care, prayers, and support. "Thank you for all your support during Fathers's last moments; all who stood by him in prayer and any other support. God's plan is unique for each one of us, some live many years, others only a few, and some depart early in life. But in all, we are invited to give thanks. For Fr. George, we thank God for the gift of his 61 years of life," he stated.
