Arua Diocese Local Donors Forum Holds Annual General Meeting
The Arua Diocese Local Donors Development Forum held its 2025 Annual General
Meeting at the Bishop's Residence in Ediofe, Arua City, bringing together local and diaspora stakeholders to review
progress, plan future initiatives, and strengthen support for diocesan development projects.
Bishop Sabino expressed gratitude to all contributors for their generosity this year and encouraged parishioners and
stakeholders to embrace a culture of giving, learning from sister dioceses that have successfully mobilized resources
to support Diocesan Developmental Initiative.
He emphasized that true generosity comes from the heart, not wealth, citing examples from Kampala, Masaka, and Mityana
dioceses, and urged Arua's large Catholic population to maximize their collective potential.
The Forum, established in 2021 to provide a structured platform for development planning, resource mobilization,
and project oversight, has successfully introduced initiatives such as the
Jege-Jege Solidarity Day , aimed at
fostering consistent and shared responsibility for diocesan growth. This year's collections, supported by
Centenary Bank Mapera and other stakeholders, have contributed to the flagship project of constructing a
Retirement Home for elderly priests.
Financial reports for 2025 indicate that diocesan parishes contributed significantly more than corporate
donors, demonstrating strong local engagement in the development initiatives. Over the past four years,
the Forum has raised a total of UGX 260 million. Strategies have been put forward to improve collections
and increase the percentage of the proposed 2026 budget that will be achieved.
The Bishop thanked parish priests for their tireless efforts and encouraged Christians to follow the example
of the widow in the Gospel, whose sacrificial giving was praised by Jesus, stressing that even modest
contributions, when given with the right heart, advance the mission of the Church. He further urged ongoing
promotion of the Retirement Home project across the Diocese to ensure better accommodation and care
for retired priests.
The Annual Meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Arua Diocese Local Donors Development Forum to
building a sustainable, generous, and participatory culture that supports the Diocese's development
priorities while fostering collective responsibility among all members of the Catholic community.
