Pilgrims of Hope: Arua Diocese Celebrates the Closing of the Jubilee Year
Closing of the Jubilee Year: Arua Diocese
The Bishop of Arua Diocese joyfully concluded the "Pilgrims of Hope" Jubilee Year with the Rite of Closing of the
Jubilee at Ediofe Catholic Cathedral on Sunday, December 28, 2025, the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and
Joseph. Bishop Sabino presided over the 10:00 a.m. Holy Mass, during which the faithful gathered in gratitude for a
year marked by grace, mercy, and renewed hope.
In his homily, Bishop Sabino urged Christians to continue living out their faith in the spirit of the Jubilee,
encouraging them to remain steadfast as Pilgrims of Hope. He emphasized that the hope received during the Jubilee
Year should continue to grow and guide the faithful in their Christian journey.
The Jubilee Year, celebrated every
25 years, began on Christmas Eve 2024 with the opening of the Holy Doors of St. Peter's Basilica by the late Pope
Francis. It will officially conclude in Rome on January 6, 2026, the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, when
Pope Leo XIV closes the Holy Doors. Pope Francis had declared 2025 a Jubilee Year, calling the Church to spiritual
renewal, reconciliation, and hope in God amid global challenges.
