"Victory in Humility": Arua Diocese Ushers in Holy Week with Vibrant Palm Sunday Celebrations
Christians from Arua Diocese joined millions of believers around the world in joyful celebration of Palm Sunday, marking
the beginning of Holy Week the most sacred time in the Christian calendar.
With crowds waving palm branches in triumphant remembrance of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan
Odoki, Bishop of Arua Diocese, led the solemn celebration of the Palm Sunday Mass, accompanied by a spirited
procession of the faithful across the diocese.
In his homily, Bishop Sabino called on Christians to purify their hearts and minds, removing all obstacles that
hinder faith. "Christ did not come for political liberation but to liberate us from sin, from separation from God,
and from the burdens that divide us from one another." the Bishop reminded the congregation.
Bishop refered to Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on a donkey as a deliberate gesture, symbolizing peace and humility,
unlike earthly kings who rode horses to show power. "The palm branches, raised in joy, are a sign of spiritual victory
a triumph over sin and division."
He urged believers to practice the spirit of self giving and humility and embrace the path of sacrifice for one another.
"We must learn to give ourselves in service to others. Without humility, true service is impossible," he said.
Reflecting on the words of the prophet Isaiah, the Bishop reminded the faithful of their Christian duty: "To sustain,
support, and be present for one another. God does not abandon us; He is always near, even in our trials."
