Arua Diocese Hosts Historic Second Visit of the Holy Image of Our Lady of Kibeho
Dzaipi Parish in Adjumani District -
The Diocese of Arua on Saturday, 9th May 2026, once again warmly received the
Holy
Image of Our Lady of Kibeho from Rwanda, marking the second historic visit of the
Marian pilgrimage image to the diocese. The sacred image entered the diocese through
St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Parish, Dzaipi Parish in Adjumani District; the
"Eastern Gate Parish" of the Diocese of Arua.
The day was marked by deep spiritual reflection, Marian devotion, and Eucharistic
celebration. Catechetical teachings on the message and significance of Our Lady of
Kibeho were delivered by Mrs. Maria Bashasha from Kibeho, Rwanda, alongside Rev. Fr.
Ukuni Francis Xavier. The teachings emphasized repentance, prayer, conversion, and the
call for peace among God's people.
Holy Mass was later celebrated under the leadership of the Chancellor of the Diocese
of Arua, Rev. Fr. Joel Anguyo, joined by Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier, Parish Priest of
Oriangwa Parish, and Rev. Fr. Robert Owiko, among other clergy and faithful.
The faithful gathered in large numbers to welcome the holy image with prayer and
devotion.
The first visit of the Holy Image to the Diocese of Arua took place in 2024 when
it entered through Arivu Parish in Vurra Vicariate. This year's pilgrimage will
continue from Dzaipi Parish until 11th May 2026 before proceeding to the neighbouring
Oriangwa Parish.
The visit of Our Lady of Kibeho continues to inspire renewed faith, reconciliation,
and spiritual awakening among the Christian community in the West Nile region.
