Bishop Sabino Thanks Government for Supporting Education in West Nile Region,
Urging for more support to raise the Standard of Education and Restore Excellence.
This was during the celebration of 100 years of Ediofe Boys Primary School,
the oldest Catholic-founded primary school in the West Nile region.
The centenary celebration took place at Ediofe Catholic Cathedral Grounds
and was presided over by Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki, Bishop of Arua Diocese.
The celebration was graced by guests from Uganda, South Sudan, and the Democratic
Republic of Congo.
In his message, Bishop Sabino expressed gratitude to the Government of Uganda,
through the Ministry of Education, for supporting education in the region. He called
for continued cooperation and increased support to help raise the standard of
education and restore excellence in private, church-founded and government schools across the region.
The Bishop commended the Comboni Missionaries, who established the school in 1923,
for laying a strong foundation in both education and evangelization.
"The missionaries brought two great gifts to the people of this region, faith in
God and education. This has become a light to our people and continues to shape
our lives today," Bishop Sabino said.
He urged all stakeholders parents, teachers, alumni, church leaders, and the
government to join hands in supporting the school's growth, saying that the
missionaries had done their part, and it is now everyone's responsibility to
carry the mission forward.
Bishop Sabino also appreciated the work of the School Management Committee, the
head teacher, staff, students, and alumni for their tireless efforts in sustaining
the school.
He encouraged students to work hard and leave the school not only academically
equipped but also spiritually and morally formed.
The Head Teacher, Mr. Victor Alioni, and the Chairperson of the Organising
Committee, Mr. John Kennedy Avutia, both expressed sincere appreciation to all
who supported and participated in the centenary celebration.
