Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki presided over the solemn opening of the Jubilee Door at Ediofe Catholic Cathedral. This sacred ceremony is part of the global celebration of the Jubilee Year 2025, themed "Pilgrims of Hope."
The Jubilee, officially launched by Pope Francis on December 24 with the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, is a time for Catholics worldwide to seek renewal, forgiveness, and hope. For the first time, Pope Francis also extended the tradition by opening a Holy Door at a prison, symbolizing God's boundless mercy.
Speaking at Ediofe Cathedral, Bishop Sabino encouraged the faithful to open their hearts and embrace the hope that the Jubilee offers, even amidst challenges like poverty, climate change, and the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We must remain hopeful and help others regain the strength to live with open minds, trusting hearts, and renewed vision," Bishop Sabino said.
The Jubilee invites Catholics to pilgrimage, prayer, and acts of mercy, offering plenary indulgences through confession, Eucharist, and designated spiritual activities.
