Arua Diocese has launched a Three-Year-Strategic-Plan that will run from July 2018 to June 2021.
The strategic planning process gave rise to Arua Diocese’s first Vision Statement: “A Diocese inspired by the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, united, evangelized, sustainable and missionary”.
While the Mission Statement of the Diocese is ‘To empower the People through the word of God, sacraments and catechesis, to be witnesses of the Good News of Christ by promoting a sustainable Missionary Church for holistic human development’, its core values are as follows:
3. Collaboration and teamwork
4. Integrity and accountability
5. Forgiveness and justice
According to the Bishop of Arua Diocese, the strategic plan will help in the management of the Diocese. He stressed that Arua Diocese Administration will work closely with all Heads of Departments and stakeholders to ensure a successful implementation of the Strategic Plan (2018-2021).
The Financial Consultant, Mr Awich Benard who provided guidance in conceptualizing the approaches, strategies, and preparing the Strategic Plan document for Arua Diocese says, If implemented well, the plan will be instrumental in fostering development in the Diocese.
The Pastoral Coordinator, Monsignor Louis Ajusi explained that the strategic objectives of the Diocese will include improved donor relations, improved accountability, reinforcing self-reliance, proper implementation of the fifth synod, strengthening Christian families through catechesis, better-trained and motivated pastoral agents, registration of Diocesan lands and improved quality of health and educational services.
The Three-Year-Strategic-Plan will require a projected expenditure of UGX 3,036,206,100 to support the implementation of the strategic objectives. Over 70% of the funding is expected to flow from donations both locally and internationally.
Arua Diocese considers improvements in communicating and engaging with the stakeholders to improve relations and goodwill.
